February and March are very busy months for blues in MN! Check it out:
Lessons in February
Musicality and Improvisation classes with Damon and Laney have been super fun so far this month. We’re learning a ton of ways to fit the way our bodies move to blues music, both on a structural and a stylistic level. Classes are Thursday, 7-8pm, at Four Seasons Dance Studio (1637 Hennepin Ave), and are $10/$8 students. Come join us!
SOLFest
Dexter Santos and Michelle Richter are coming to SOLFest this year! If you don’t know who that is, look them up on youtube right now. I mean it, right now. I’ll wait.
Ok, now that you’re back from youtube, you know exactly why you should register for SOLFest immediately.
Lessons in March
Lessons will continue in March, with a new theme TBA. This month, your learning experience will be facilitated by Damon Stone and Eryn O’Neil. Same price, same place. Still mixed level. Come on out and learn!
The Blues Mill in March
Our March dance is scheduled for Saturday the 10th. You can expect excellent music, delicious munchies, and great people, as usual. 9pm-12am, 4 Seasons Dance Studio.
House Party
That’s right, they are not extinct! CB will be hosting a house party March 24th, just in time to warm you up for Can’t Fool the Blues…but more on that later. This house party is a little bit special because it will be the last party ever at Laurel House. *tear* The house will no longer house blues dancers as of May 1st. So come celebrate the end of a (small) era with us and give the house a good-bye dance or two. 9pm-2am, $5, food provided.
Can’t Fool the Blues with Jerry & Kathy Warwick
As you may have heard, CB is hosting a workshop weekend with these marvelous instructors over April Fool’s weekend. Jerry and Kathy are great instructors and have taught all over the U.S. Google them. They also happen to be absolutely lovely people. There will be 9 classes over the course of two days, a dance Saturday night, and opportunities for private lessons! Online registration will be up soon, but if you come to the February lessons mentioned above, you get the super-special reduced price of $45 for the whole weekend! Online registration in February will be $55, and the price will increase March 1st. So get on it!
That’s it for now y’all. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@collectivelyblue.com if you have any questions. See you on the floor!
